Terms of Use
1. The service
Kitchen Buddy is a consumer Android application that helps you manage kitchen stock, plan and time multi-dish cooking, scan products, and keep a simple meal diary. It is provided by Lucky Tools (“weâ€, “usâ€).
2. Licence to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for lawful personal or household purposes (including carer support for someone in your household), subject to these Terms and Google Play’s terms.
You must not:
- Copy, reverse engineer, or redistribute the app except as allowed by law;
- Use the app to break the law or harm others;
- Attempt to abuse purchases, trials, or license keys;
- Misrepresent allergen or medical status of products based solely on the app.
3. No medical or professional advice
4. Your content and responsibility
You are responsible for the accuracy of stock, dates, portions, and cooking decisions. Timers and “COOK NOW / COOK LATER†are tools to support you; they do not guarantee safe cooking or that food will not spoil. Unattended cooking and hot appliances are at your own risk.
If you share shopping lists, QR pantry data, backups, or carer notes, you choose what leaves your device. Do not share sensitive information you are not allowed to share.
5. Free features and Calm Deluxe
Core cooking, pantry, and timer features are intended to remain usable without payment. Optional Calm Deluxe features (for example higher online product-lookup limits) may require a subscription, one-time purchase via Google Play, a free trial, or a valid caregiver/charity license key.
Prices are shown in Google Play (and may vary by country). Subscriptions renew according to Google Play rules until cancelled in Google Play. Refunds are handled by Google under their policies. Local “pay-what-you-can†preferences do not change what Google charges unless a matching product exists.
6. Third-party services
Optional barcode enrichment may use third-party databases (e.g. Open Food Facts, UPC Item DB). Their availability and data quality are outside our control. Camera and text-recognition libraries (e.g. on-device ML Kit) are provided by their vendors under their licences.
7. Intellectual property
The app, branding, and related materials are owned by Lucky Tools or its licensors. Product names and third-party marks belong to their owners.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided “as is†and “as available†without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that OCR, barcodes, or nutrition data will be accurate.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lucky Tools will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Calm Deluxe in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £10, except where liability cannot be limited (e.g. death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights you have as a consumer under UK law that cannot be waived.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time (uninstall). We may stop offering the app or change features. Provisions that should survive (e.g. liability limits, IP) will survive termination.
11. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms. The effective date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms, except where the law requires additional consent.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
